Cakebread Winery

It was as simple as that, in the good old times: Jack Cakebread spent 1973 a weekend in the Napa Valley and mentioned to friends that it would be fun to have an own winery. Back ho-me the phone rang and he had a offer to purchase land. Within a week the deal was done. And today, this winery is cult. At wine fairs we always have people asking „whaaat, you have Cakebread?“ Well, I had to polish their door handle for about 10 years in order to be accep-ted as an importer. 70% of the production is sold in the tasting room. Only a few bottles make it to Europe. Julianne Laks is the celler master – she makes it happen.
