Santa Ynez Valley, CA

Santa Ynez Valley, CA,

Although the Santa Rita Hills protect the Santy Ynez Valley, there is still a Pacific influence. Around 11 am the fog lifts and Sout Californian sun kicks in. The wines retain their natural acidity but get a considerable amount of sugar too. The West of the Valley is clearly cooler than the East. The soil composition is gravel and loam. In the West, Pinot Noir and Chardon-nay are dominating, the East is ruled by Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc.
