In 2001 this region West of the Santa Ynez Valley became an own appellation. The limits in the North are the Purisima Hills, in the South the Santa Rosa Hills. Buellton lies West, Lom-poc in the East of the appellation. The region is considered quite cool as Pacific influence is strong. In the morning, it is often foggy, from noon on it’s mostly sunny. Going in the direc-tion of the Pacific, the temperature falls every mile by 1° Celsius. The ground is composed by alluvial soils. Main varietals are Pinot Noir, Syrah and Chardonnay.
